There are 25 windows in the crown which symbolize gemstones found on the earth and the heaven's rays shining over the world. The seven rays of the Statue's crown represent the seven seas and continents of the world. The tablet which the Statue holds in her left hand reads (in Roman numerals) "July 4th, 1776."
Not the easiest of pictures to tkae. Why, cause there are millions of the same picture out there. For me catching pictures of such popular attraction is about presenting in a slightly different way. For me this just ticks all the right buttons. Nothing special. Sorry. Suby

Does it catch ice in the winter like they showed in "Day after tomorrow"? I too got independence on July 4th (My first day at job) but on year 2000!

This post and the DaVinci code have a lot more in common then people might realize. Someone could write a whole DaVinci code style book/movie about the hidden symbolism in America (I guess many people have already but not as popular as DaVinci code except maybe that movie with Nicholas Cage about the Declaration of Independence and the secrets behind it but that was kind of silly!)
This lady liberty has ties to Freemasonry. She is quite similar to other Goddess depictions throughout history such as the Babylonian Ishtar or the Egyption Isis and viewed by many as a symbol of the occult.
